Recognizing the importance of both good oral health for Bucks County residents and the vital role that HealthLink Dental Clinic plays in ensuring that this is available to everyone in the community regardless of income level, the Bucks County Commissioners proclaimed April 2015 as “Bucks County Oral Health Month” during their business meeting on Wednesday morning at Synergis Technologies in Quakertown.
The proclamation came at the same time that HealthLink made that strategic decision to focus its future efforts and resources solely on providing dental care to low wage-earning adults. Boasting a new name, logo, mission, and website, HealthLink Dental Clinic is open and accepting patients who are eligible for its free dental care.
The newly expanded dental clinic at HealthLink will provide a variety of dental services including oral exams, fillings, x-rays, simple extractions, dental hygiene appointments, and patient education. To qualify for free care, adults must: live in Bucks or Montgomery counties, be currently employed, and have a household income of less than 250% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. (A single person living alone would qualify if they earn less than $29,425 per year.) Individuals can schedule an eligibility appointment by calling (215) 364-4247.
As the clinic expands, its need for the support of local professional dentists increases as well. Realizing this, the Bucks County Commissioners sent letters to more than 500 dentists urging them to become active with HealthLink as volunteers, financial contributors, and supporters of its mission.
HealthLink is partnering with Impact Thrift Stores this month for two in-store events where the public can learn more about the services offered at the dental clinic and the requirements to be eligible for free care. The community can visit the outreach tables during either of two events: Thursday, April 9th from 11am to 1pm at the Montgomeryville location or Thursday, April 16th from 11am to 1pm at the Feasterville location.
The expanding dental clinic will also be holding an Open House on Wednesday, April 29th from 4-6pm at its location on Street Road in Southampton. Members of the community are invited to come tour the facilities; speak with staff, volunteers, and the Board of Directors; and learn more about the clinic’s plans for the future. The Open House event is being catered thanks to a generous donation from Corporate Source Catering. All are welcome, but online registration is requested at http://tinyurl.com/HLopenhouse
