Eat This, Not That! 3 Foods to Avoid, 3 Foods to Eat

As with regular diets, certain foods can be healthy for you, while others are not. The same goes for teeth! Did you know that there are certain foods that can naturally whiten your teeth? Below are some foods you should avoid and others you should consider!

Avoid This: Candy

This one is pretty obvious – everybody knows that candy causes cavities and cavities are no good. However, different candies are unhealthy at different levels. For example, chewy candies – they will stick to your teeth for a longer period of time and allow for bacteria to grow.

Eat This Instead: Raisins

Nature’s candy, right? Love them or hate them, they are healthier for your teeth, and for yourself as a whole.

Avoid This: Soda and Coffee

Basically the same as candy. Soda being awful for your teeth is no secret. The same essentially goes with coffee. You may have heard that coffee can stain your teeth, and this is true. However, enjoying the two in moderation is fine, so long as proper brushing habits are in order.

(Drink) This Instead: Water

Plain and simple. Especially when containing fluoride, water can absolutely be healthy for your teeth – and it will keep you hydrated!

Avoid This: Acidic Fruits

Some of these include grapefruits, lemons, and oranges, as well as juice from these particular fruits. While the fruits are not necessarily unhealthy, the acids contained are not healthy for your teeth.

Eat This Instead: Broccoli

Broccoli contains a substantial amount of health benefits. In regards to your teeth, broccoli contains calcium which can help strengthen your teeth. Broccoli can also help defend your gums from gum disease. Some other vegetables that are good for your teeth are spinach and carrots.

To conclude, just because something is bad for your teeth does not mean you should never enjoy it! So long as you keep proper dental hygiene habits and eat (or drink) those items in moderation, you have little to worry about. However, switching to a healthier snack will produce more benefits.
