April is Oral, Head, and Neck Cancer Awareness Month!

It is so important to raise awareness surrounding oral cancer and how to prevent it or catch it early - as an early diagnosis can more than double a patient's chances for survival.

Here are some facts:

• Oral cancer develops in the tissues of the mouth or throat. It belongs to a larger group of cancers called head and neck cancers. Most develop in the squamous cells found in your mouth, tongue, and lips.

• Approximately 58,500 people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with oral cancer in 2024.

• One person dies from oral cancer every hour of every day in the U.S.

• Tobacco, alcohol, and HPV are all risk factors.
